In the story of "When Rain Clouds Gather"Makhaya has escaped from his old country to go to Botswana. Once he finds himself inside of the Botswana borders, he is hiding as a refugee inside of Dinorego's house. When Dinorego first met Makhaya, he watches out for Makhaya and introduced him to his daughter, Maria, and his good friend Gilbert. Gilbert has big plans for Golema Mmidi, plans to modernize the country and open the people's eyes to new things and other stuff that he discovers. He needs to change the way that the people of the country see things. If all Golema plans get discover the women would be able to speak out for theme selves, and the brutal actions towards them would be stopped. The men would be able to stay home with their family and not have to travel around with cattle and children will be able to stay home and go to school. Chief Matenge highly dislikes Dinorego and Gilbert. He feels that they are trying to take over when really they are only trying to help him. The Chief only wants to stay in power and rule over all of the land which can't be done because of his enemy Chief Sekoto which is his brother. This book is kinda good, meanwhile I think something's going to happen between Paulina and Makhaya.

Handguns

Why do people carry handguns? Some people carry guns because people think their tough. Guns ruin everything and everyone. You get ten to thirty for bringing a gun to school. If you shot somebody you get life depending on the situation. The only people that should have guns is police officers but sometimes I think they shouldn't have them either. Some people think that people who carry guns are bad people because they carry them.
But I thing that you CAN'T judge people who carry guns unless you know their situations, and why they carry that gun. I know people who carry guns for protections because of the neighborhood that they live in. But they never use it just got it for protection because of the crazy people in their neighborhood.

A Drop of Milk

1.)The questions that I have for this myth is how does stone create iron and iron create fire?

2.) The World was created by a drop of milk.

4.) The each defeat each other in a series of pattern, like right behind each other.

5.) Doondari return as Gueno to defeat death because he's powerful than death.

6.) If man hadn't been happy/proud, then everything probably would have been dull and nothing good would come from man.

7.) If man had not been proud then the world would be dead nothing would get done and women would have more work to do.

8.)

9.) I think it explains death a little bit but I think it could explain death a little bit more because it was hard for me to understand I also think it needs to get more in dept with it.

Rain Cloud

The central conflict in the story "When Rain Clouds Gathers " is a fugitive and is on the run . On his run he runs into a lot of people like the old man and the lady that he talks into letting him stay with her. Some of the main characters of the story is Chief Matenge, Makhaya, Gilbert, and Chief Sekoto. Some attributes of Makhaya is that he's sly because he escape, giving because he gave the little girl money, and smart because he registered himself as a residence. The plot summary of the story is that he escape and went to a different town without anyone knowing right away. Then he talk some lady that he saw in the woods I believe and tried to talk her into letting him stay there. He also started working with Gilbert in the farm. Gilbert is a wise man who help the people and the chief dislikes him for that. So this is what's going on so far in "When Rain Clouds Gather."

~ Hurricane Katrina ~

Hurricane Katrina ruined many peoples lives and broke apart a lot of families. My heart goes out to those who lost love ones and everything that they owned. I think that the government should try and hurry up and rebuild New Orleans. It's seem that out of all of the damages that hurricanes had made it's taking them longer to rebuild New Orleans .But hurricane Katrina was a big destroyed that effect a lot of people and just not the people that she hit.

Writing Options ( The Pillow Book)

February 16, 2007
Got a paper saying that I have fulfilled the first eligibility requirement to be in the National Honor Society. I went home and told my parents and they were happy for me and told me to fill out the papers and see if I get accept.

February 18, 2007
Got three comments from the residents at work saying that I'm a very good and polite waitress. I was surprise at first because I didn't even see anyone writing any comments nor put any comment papers in the comment box from my quad.

February 20, 2007
Just before school was out the fire alarm went off and we thought it was a fire at first but then we thought maybe someone pull it because no teacher or principal would pull it two minutes before class, well that's what I was thinking to myself.

The Students
The students that are in my four classes are good kids. You know how you can have through trouble makers or through smart mouthed ones that talk back to the teacher, well I don't have none of them in my class at least I think so. I like that because that way everyone gets the help that they might need and there's no distractions in class. I get alone with all my peers in my classes which is a good thing. So through are the Booker High Students that I see everyday for five days a week.

BHS Teachers
When It comes to Booker Highs Teachers what can I say...Well my teacher's that I have are very helpful and nice. But I have this one teacher that's the nicest her name is Mrs. Postell. She different for most teachers and that's a good thing. Most teachers just give you your work and tell you what needs to be done. But It's different with Mrs. Postell I love her class and the things we do in her class, like Blogger.com where we get to write our opinions on different topics. The one thing that I love about Mrs. Postell is that she very open and involve with her students. I never seen a teacher that's so involve with her students like Mrs. Postell. When I found out that she was teacher of the month all I could say is that she deserve it even through I haven't even known her for that long. If I could pick any teacher at Booker High School as my mentor I would pick Mrs. Postell or Mr. Patterson because they're real down to earth as teachers and most teachers aren't that way.

Women In Botswana.

Life in Botswana is very hard for male and female because of the high aids infection rate in the southern part of Africa where Botswana is located. Out of one thousand infants that are females, fifty-two of them die. On a daily basis, the women there are beaten then raped by their male partners. Most women of Botswana that are pregnant have AIDS or HIV and they also don't have any rights. The women of Botswana get paid as much as males do. There isn't any male doctors in Botswana that deliver babies only women doctors deliver babies in Botswana.

The women in Botswana have alot of time on there hands unlike their husbands. Their living conditions are very bad they don't have transportation so that means they have to walk everywhere they go even if it's raining. They also have to search for what food they can find for them and their families to eat. So it's a very big struggle for them when it comes to surving in Botswana.

Japanese Poerty

1.) I think that Jade flower Palace has the most vivid images.

2.) "Land Of Plague And Fever." meaning that the land is dangerous, not a good place to be."Wings to Fly With Water" and "Horned dragons" probably have to do with war.

3.) You never miss something until it's gone.

4.) The details that he provide in "Song of P'eng-ya are that they ate, well served rations of food.

6.) The narrators differ their attitude by the writing of the poem the (subject) in Jade Flower Palace." He talks about a palace which is anbanded and demolish. In Ozymandias he talks about a traveler he might and the landscape of the desert.

7.) Yes because it talks about how he got in trouble with the prince who did some wrongdoing, So his poems are base on the things in his life.

8.) His poems are relevant to the modern world because people today write like Tu Fu wrote in the eighth century, they use the same word structure, similes metaphors and etc.

Thinking Through The Pillow Book.

1.) The most interesting part of "The Pillow Book" was when they were talking to the dog as if he/she could ready talk like humans.

2.) I think Shonagon sent word to Tadataka because the dog was acting strange and unusual so that's why I think Shonagon had sent words to Tadataka to let her now that, that was a totally different dog.

3.)I think that the author is a okay writer when it comes to her writing in her dairy. She tells things as see them. Things in life are hateful, beautiful, and embarrassing and that's how things are in the real world.

4.) I think she means that her typical beautiful day is different in other peoples eyes that might have a different idea of a beautiful day than her.

5.)

6.) I agree with graceful things and embarrassing things. People in today's world always get embarrassed and find certain things pleasant and nice. But I don't agree with hateful things because I don't hate things/people I might dislike things/or dislike certain people for what they do or for their personality.

When it comes to Holiday's...I get very happy because it means a lot to me like having fun, spending time with ALL of my family, and the most fun part of all eating. My favorite Holiday is Thanksgiving because I get to see all my family. I mean my family! from Georgia, New York, Alabama and other places. We all get together talk, catch up, dance, listen to music, eat, we do everything when we get together. This is why I like Thanksgiving.

"The Smith Family"

I LOVE my family...What can I say their alway there when I need them. We have alot of fun together but don't get it twisted we all have our moments when we're at each others necks. But family is very important to me because I can talk to them about anything...well my sister and I don't have worry about her telling my parents if I don't want them to know, But I end up telling them anyway. But what I love the most about my sister is that I can talk to her about anything and she won't shut me up, she'll wait until I'm done talking and then give me her advise. This is why I LOVE my family even through I don't show it all the time you know when I get mad at my parents or slibings and don't talk to them for a little minute.

Chinese Poetry

1.) I would have to say that "The River - Merchant's wife. A letter" appeals to me the most.

2.) I would describe the relationship between the wife and her husband as if they don't see each other that much and she makes it seem as if he move and left her.

3.) The speaker's feelings in "Still Night Thoughts" is that he/she feeling sad as if he/she is missing their home.

4.) The effects of the speaker seeing the waterfall is as if he/she is living in fairy tale land and trying to remember every moment of it.

6.) The similarities and differences between the feeling of " Mulberry on the Lowland" is that it seems peaceful and in "The River- Merchant's wife: A letter" it seems sad as if the speaker is missing someone.

7.) Some people in today's world view nature as a beautiful thing, others don't really care for nature.

Poetry Of Ancient Rome

1. I think the advice that was given in the poems was good advice. It makes you think about how you should live your life as you read.

2. The advice given in "Seize The Day" is to live each day as one and not think about tomorrow.

3. I think that the speaker means that you should have your own role and not be a follower. If you respect others they should do the same unto you.

5. The poems all teach you good advice that you can use to better yourself in life. The poems give delight by being short almost like songs. The poems also give delight by the way they are written in the way showing grace, charm, and the precision of language.

6. I find the image of Better to Live, Licinius... because it shows everyone doing their own thing and living their lives the way they want to live them.

7. I think that Seize the Day gives the best advise, it tells you that you should live life to the fullest and not think about tomorrow worry about today and live life the way you want.

8. Yes I agree, I think it means that you should have goals for yourself in life.

Abortion's

I think abortions is wrong, but I also think they should be allow on certain situations. I think it's wrong to kill an innocent child that didn't do nothing wrong. If the mother of the child doesn't want her child I think that she should give them up for adoption to another family or family member. I think it's better that way because the parent won't have to deal with knowing that they killed their child at least they will know that they're living and not dead.

Pericles and M...

January 26,2007

1.They were both heroes in there own certain way and everyone respects them for that reason. Biko was fighting for African Americans to be equal to everyone else. The soldiers were fighting for their town just like the soldiers today fight for our country and they have so much heart and dedication and that is why they are heroes.

2.I think he needs to keep the memory alive because Biko dedicated his life for what he believed in and I think that's what a hero is.

Movies!

Pause And Effects On Oedipus

1.)I think that Oedipus is a good person because he doesn't want to leave anyone behind he likes for everyone to be informed. He want for everyone to be cured of the plague.

2.) Murder is what started the plague on the city, the murder of king Laius whom was once a leader who was killed by a band of thieves.

3.)The details that let you know that Thebes is a city of death is because there's so much hate in this city and they talk about how Dionysus is the god of death so when something bad happens that pretty much blame it on her.

4.) Oedipus puts some kind of curse that will ring in his ear I believe.

5.)Tiresias names Oedipus s the murder of Laius.

Analysis of Women's Role

What was expected of women in the Athenian society was no more better than a slave. They married at the age of 15 and to a man that was twice their age. Their weren't allow to even eat with their husbands and his male friends.Women of spartan had much more freedom then women of Ancient Greece. They couldn't have any part of having a real job or getting any education. So their Role in Athenian society was basically like being a slave to their husbands. Doing what they needed them to do,cleaning up around the house, and taking care of their kids. So this is what was expected of the women of Athenian.

The Effects Of September 11

When I heard about what had happen I was very scared...Because at the time my cousin work in one of the buildings that had got hit.I was out of my mind, I was in school when I heard this had happen and I was just thinking about my cousin all day at school. I didn't eat or nothing I couldn't concentrate at all in class. So all I was thinking about was if my cousin was okay or was she dead and did I have to attend another funeral...(Which I hate) But I think 9\11 has it's effects on everyone I think.

Poems by Sappho

1.) I think I understood "He Is More Than a Hero" because it caught my attention on how she talks about this man who is a hero but more than a hero to her, I guess it's how she express herself about him.

3.) In "He Is More Than a Hero" she describing a man who is more than a hero to her she talks about him and how he's a loyal and how she in love in him and everything he does.

In "Some say thronging cavalry" she talks about Anactoria and how she miss, so I assuming that Anactoria has die or something.

In " To Aphrodite of Flowers, at Knossos" she talks about a place that seem so peaceful and beautiful that she wouldn't mind being there right about now with her Queen Aphrodite.

4.) Well "Some say thronging cavalry" and "To Aphrodite of Flowers at Knossos" apply to Sappho because it says that she loves to write about her relationships with women and her daughter and she talks about her Queen Aphorodite in both poems.

6.) I think Keyisha Cole would do them justice because when she sings, she puts a lot of feeling into it so much that you can feel it inside of you so that's why I think Byeonce would be a great singer for them.

Crime In Sarasota,Florida

When it comes to crime in Sarasota,Florida...Wow! it's a lot of that going around, that it's a shame. In Sarasota it's a lot of crime going around from stealing to fighting to killing. I think it's very sad that this goes on in the world but I guess it's just life. It's so bad that you can't go to community events without someone fighting and shooting at each other. But what's sad about it is that it's over some nonsense, that wasn't even worth opening your mouth or lifting a finger for. I just think it's sad that people can do things like this to one another.

Writing Option 2

The teacher that I choose was Mr. Patterson I think Mr. Patterson is kinda like Drona because he makes his students think about the method or concept that their learning or getting ready to learn like Drona did with Arjuna. Mr. Patterson shows you the method and how to do what he's teaching. Then if you don't understand it he breaks to wear he think you will understand it like Drona did with Arjuna and the bird. One thing that's different between the teacher that I choose and Drona is that if you learn the method that Mr. Patterson is teaching a hold totally way he will accept that but Drona won't he wants you to learn it hi way. So this is how my teacher is like Drona.

Think Through Mahabarata

1.) my reaction to Arjuna was a very strong person, that everyone knows well and is the best of at what he does.

3.) The qualities that I think was admired in ancient India are his devotion to his guru, his excellence, and him being a outstanding warrior.

4.)My opinion on Drona as a teacher is that he was a good teacher with a lot of wisdom to give Arjuna and the other warriors.

5.) I think Indian parents still tell their children this story because it's a very good story about warriors and how strong the warriors were and how they don't give up easy.

6) Drona remind me of other warriors/gods that I have read about like Odyssey and how he's very smart and tends to out smart his enemies all the time even when you think his enemies have him.

7.) Well I think that the story is some what true not all the way true I don't know why I think this but I just do.

Think through Gilgamesh

1.He wanted to find Utnapishtim for everlasting life. Utnapishim tells Gilgamesh the story of the gods. The gods made Utnapishim immortal.

2. Gilgamesh couldn't accept the fact that human beings could die because he was a third human and that meant that he could die too.

3. Because he was the king of Uruk.

4. The event in the story that had the biggest effect on Gilgamesh was when his friend had died.

5. I believe the story of Gilgamesh might continue as him having kids. I also think that he will be an even better king in the future.

6. In today's world people take death hard and to most people dead is a fear.

Ancient literature and people

1.)Some similarities and differences between the cultures of the Mesopotamian era is that they all have different classes, writings, laws, languages, and architecture. Some of their similarities that they have is the technology and different kingdoms.

2.)Some principal points are the castes that they have, how they were leveled from the highest to the lowest people who were the untouchables. Sons were favored over their mothers and sisters. Women were faced stricter moral standards than men was in some of their cultures.

Greek Culture

1.) Religion of the ancient Greeks are different from Jews, Christians, and Muslims because ancient Greeks have no sacred writings and no commandments.

2.) The Olympian gods are like human beings because the show human qualities like love, hate, and jealousy. The Olympians gods are different from human beings because they live forever and human beings don't.

3.) Some features of Athenian democracy is that one-fifth of the population could participate in government and many of the positions were paid, so even poor citizens could hold office.

are Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle.

5.) Some of the events included in the Olympic Game are boxing, wrestling, the javelin and discus throws, and races of all kinds.

6.) What made the Greek languages easy to use was because they use letters to represent all the sounds in Greek languages.

A Typical Day At Booker High School.

A typical day at Booker High School starts out with me waking up at 6:30 a.m getting ready. After I'm done getting ready I make sure that my niece is up and ready for school, then I leave. Now I'm off for first block which is Biology sit in there and do my work and take notes. After first block I'm on my way to second block which Spanish two as usually I do my work. I kinda like this class because we play games. But the game we play are mostly to learn our Spanish vocabulary and knowing how to say it in a complete sentence. Finally my favorite class of the day English two even through I still have one more class to go. This is the best class out of all my classes it's very interesting, we do a lot of neat things in English two like this. Finally I get to have a break and eat, that's right it's lunch time.I usually eat school lunch or buy pizza from the alley cart after I'm done eating I'll probably hang out with my friends or just chill by myself and read my book or something. Now I'm almost through I have one more class to go to which is my reading class it's easy because we really don't do much but READ! We do take notes and get packets that we work on for two or three days it depends on when they're due to turn in and finally the bell rings and 2:15 p.m letting everyone know school is over. From here I go home and relax, that's only if I don't have to go to work. So that's a day for me at Booker High School.

Egyptin Literaure

2.) In Book Of The Dead I think the tone of the story is very serious. It seems that he's being very concerned about his situation. So that he can get his blessing for the next world.

3.) I think the reason Ra should be praised is because the people believe that he brings life and and joy to everything.

4.)In "I'm going downstream" I think she thinks that way because her love isn't never home with her ,he's always working or out somewhere doing something. So she dreams about hem getting married and think things will be different.

6.)I think the speaker in "I'm going downstream on Kingwater Canal" gave me the strongest sense of the speaker. The speaker shows a lot of emotion when she talks about her belove and ho she dreams they will get married.

7.) A difference between the two poems is that in "Whenever I leave you , I go out of breath" She talks about leaving her love, when she dies and how she going to miss her love. In "I'm going down downstream on Kingwater Canal" she talks about her and her love getting married and being together.

8.)Well their attitudes compare to my society because they talk as if they talk to their god like my family talk to our god about our problems, and concerns in life and praise him for our blessing like Nu did in the first story.

Quest Story

Waist Deep is a quest story because O2 (Tyrese Gibson) goes on a journey to get his son back. He also goes through obstacles to get his son back. He has friends along his journey but one dies, his cousin because he tries to help him defeat his enemies. Coca, his other friend helps him by robbing banks so they can collect money up to get his son back.At the end of O2 journey he kills his enemies and escape from the police. Then he goes to Mexico to meet up with his son and Coca and that's has his journey ends.

Freedom Writers is also a quest story. In the movie the journey is
to get away from violence's and to success in life. But it seems impossible, the
person that goes on the journey is the students learning how to deal with their
problems and how to fix them. The teacher is also in a journey to get these
students to do better in school and graduate. The valuable object in this
journey is to get where you want in life, to success without having to do it
with violence's.

Stereotypes Of People And Nationalities

When it comes to stereotypes of people and nationalities I think it's wrong. Stereotyping is just like being prejudice. Why do I say this? Because when you do them both you're judging that person and that person's nationality to be the same. Which isn't fair to everyone elsa and that person because everyone isn't the same. We all make mistakes and it's not fair just for one person of nationality to represents the whole race.So I think you shouldn't stereotype anyone, I believe you should get to know that person because everyone is different from one another and have their own unique style.

Homosexuality

When it comes to homosexuality I believe it's up to that person. If that's their perference I guess you just have to accept it or leave it alone.I Don't Have A problem with homosexuality.I think people should be able to go with whoever they want, even if that person is the same sex as them.People look at it as ill that's nasty, their so discussing. But I see it as that's them and if that's who they want to go with or fall in love with that's their choice. You can't change people from their decision...Only they can.
