Pericles and M...

January 26,2007

1.They were both heroes in there own certain way and everyone respects them for that reason. Biko was fighting for African Americans to be equal to everyone else. The soldiers were fighting for their town just like the soldiers today fight for our country and they have so much heart and dedication and that is why they are heroes.

2.I think he needs to keep the memory alive because Biko dedicated his life for what he believed in and I think that's what a hero is.

Pause And Effects On Oedipus

1.)I think that Oedipus is a good person because he doesn't want to leave anyone behind he likes for everyone to be informed. He want for everyone to be cured of the plague.

2.) Murder is what started the plague on the city, the murder of king Laius whom was once a leader who was killed by a band of thieves.

3.)The details that let you know that Thebes is a city of death is because there's so much hate in this city and they talk about how Dionysus is the god of death so when something bad happens that pretty much blame it on her.

4.) Oedipus puts some kind of curse that will ring in his ear I believe.

5.)Tiresias names Oedipus s the murder of Laius.

Analysis of Women's Role

What was expected of women in the Athenian society was no more better than a slave. They married at the age of 15 and to a man that was twice their age. Their weren't allow to even eat with their husbands and his male friends.Women of spartan had much more freedom then women of Ancient Greece. They couldn't have any part of having a real job or getting any education. So their Role in Athenian society was basically like being a slave to their husbands. Doing what they needed them to do,cleaning up around the house, and taking care of their kids. So this is what was expected of the women of Athenian.

The Effects Of September 11

When I heard about what had happen I was very scared...Because at the time my cousin work in one of the buildings that had got hit.I was out of my mind, I was in school when I heard this had happen and I was just thinking about my cousin all day at school. I didn't eat or nothing I couldn't concentrate at all in class. So all I was thinking about was if my cousin was okay or was she dead and did I have to attend another funeral...(Which I hate) But I think 9\11 has it's effects on everyone I think.

Poems by Sappho

1.) I think I understood "He Is More Than a Hero" because it caught my attention on how she talks about this man who is a hero but more than a hero to her, I guess it's how she express herself about him.

3.) In "He Is More Than a Hero" she describing a man who is more than a hero to her she talks about him and how he's a loyal and how she in love in him and everything he does.

In "Some say thronging cavalry" she talks about Anactoria and how she miss, so I assuming that Anactoria has die or something.

In " To Aphrodite of Flowers, at Knossos" she talks about a place that seem so peaceful and beautiful that she wouldn't mind being there right about now with her Queen Aphrodite.

4.) Well "Some say thronging cavalry" and "To Aphrodite of Flowers at Knossos" apply to Sappho because it says that she loves to write about her relationships with women and her daughter and she talks about her Queen Aphorodite in both poems.

6.) I think Keyisha Cole would do them justice because when she sings, she puts a lot of feeling into it so much that you can feel it inside of you so that's why I think Byeonce would be a great singer for them.

Crime In Sarasota,Florida

When it comes to crime in Sarasota,Florida...Wow! it's a lot of that going around, that it's a shame. In Sarasota it's a lot of crime going around from stealing to fighting to killing. I think it's very sad that this goes on in the world but I guess it's just life. It's so bad that you can't go to community events without someone fighting and shooting at each other. But what's sad about it is that it's over some nonsense, that wasn't even worth opening your mouth or lifting a finger for. I just think it's sad that people can do things like this to one another.

Writing Option 2

The teacher that I choose was Mr. Patterson I think Mr. Patterson is kinda like Drona because he makes his students think about the method or concept that their learning or getting ready to learn like Drona did with Arjuna. Mr. Patterson shows you the method and how to do what he's teaching. Then if you don't understand it he breaks to wear he think you will understand it like Drona did with Arjuna and the bird. One thing that's different between the teacher that I choose and Drona is that if you learn the method that Mr. Patterson is teaching a hold totally way he will accept that but Drona won't he wants you to learn it hi way. So this is how my teacher is like Drona.

Think Through Mahabarata

1.) my reaction to Arjuna was a very strong person, that everyone knows well and is the best of at what he does.

3.) The qualities that I think was admired in ancient India are his devotion to his guru, his excellence, and him being a outstanding warrior.

4.)My opinion on Drona as a teacher is that he was a good teacher with a lot of wisdom to give Arjuna and the other warriors.

5.) I think Indian parents still tell their children this story because it's a very good story about warriors and how strong the warriors were and how they don't give up easy.

6) Drona remind me of other warriors/gods that I have read about like Odyssey and how he's very smart and tends to out smart his enemies all the time even when you think his enemies have him.

7.) Well I think that the story is some what true not all the way true I don't know why I think this but I just do.

Think through Gilgamesh

1.He wanted to find Utnapishtim for everlasting life. Utnapishim tells Gilgamesh the story of the gods. The gods made Utnapishim immortal.

2. Gilgamesh couldn't accept the fact that human beings could die because he was a third human and that meant that he could die too.

3. Because he was the king of Uruk.

4. The event in the story that had the biggest effect on Gilgamesh was when his friend had died.

5. I believe the story of Gilgamesh might continue as him having kids. I also think that he will be an even better king in the future.

6. In today's world people take death hard and to most people dead is a fear.

Ancient literature and people

1.)Some similarities and differences between the cultures of the Mesopotamian era is that they all have different classes, writings, laws, languages, and architecture. Some of their similarities that they have is the technology and different kingdoms.

2.)Some principal points are the castes that they have, how they were leveled from the highest to the lowest people who were the untouchables. Sons were favored over their mothers and sisters. Women were faced stricter moral standards than men was in some of their cultures.

Greek Culture

1.) Religion of the ancient Greeks are different from Jews, Christians, and Muslims because ancient Greeks have no sacred writings and no commandments.

2.) The Olympian gods are like human beings because the show human qualities like love, hate, and jealousy. The Olympians gods are different from human beings because they live forever and human beings don't.

3.) Some features of Athenian democracy is that one-fifth of the population could participate in government and many of the positions were paid, so even poor citizens could hold office.

are Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle.

5.) Some of the events included in the Olympic Game are boxing, wrestling, the javelin and discus throws, and races of all kinds.

6.) What made the Greek languages easy to use was because they use letters to represent all the sounds in Greek languages.

A Typical Day At Booker High School.

A typical day at Booker High School starts out with me waking up at 6:30 a.m getting ready. After I'm done getting ready I make sure that my niece is up and ready for school, then I leave. Now I'm off for first block which is Biology sit in there and do my work and take notes. After first block I'm on my way to second block which Spanish two as usually I do my work. I kinda like this class because we play games. But the game we play are mostly to learn our Spanish vocabulary and knowing how to say it in a complete sentence. Finally my favorite class of the day English two even through I still have one more class to go. This is the best class out of all my classes it's very interesting, we do a lot of neat things in English two like this. Finally I get to have a break and eat, that's right it's lunch time.I usually eat school lunch or buy pizza from the alley cart after I'm done eating I'll probably hang out with my friends or just chill by myself and read my book or something. Now I'm almost through I have one more class to go to which is my reading class it's easy because we really don't do much but READ! We do take notes and get packets that we work on for two or three days it depends on when they're due to turn in and finally the bell rings and 2:15 p.m letting everyone know school is over. From here I go home and relax, that's only if I don't have to go to work. So that's a day for me at Booker High School.

Egyptin Literaure

2.) In Book Of The Dead I think the tone of the story is very serious. It seems that he's being very concerned about his situation. So that he can get his blessing for the next world.

3.) I think the reason Ra should be praised is because the people believe that he brings life and and joy to everything.

4.)In "I'm going downstream" I think she thinks that way because her love isn't never home with her ,he's always working or out somewhere doing something. So she dreams about hem getting married and think things will be different.

6.)I think the speaker in "I'm going downstream on Kingwater Canal" gave me the strongest sense of the speaker. The speaker shows a lot of emotion when she talks about her belove and ho she dreams they will get married.

7.) A difference between the two poems is that in "Whenever I leave you , I go out of breath" She talks about leaving her love, when she dies and how she going to miss her love. In "I'm going down downstream on Kingwater Canal" she talks about her and her love getting married and being together.

8.)Well their attitudes compare to my society because they talk as if they talk to their god like my family talk to our god about our problems, and concerns in life and praise him for our blessing like Nu did in the first story.

Quest Story

Waist Deep is a quest story because O2 (Tyrese Gibson) goes on a journey to get his son back. He also goes through obstacles to get his son back. He has friends along his journey but one dies, his cousin because he tries to help him defeat his enemies. Coca, his other friend helps him by robbing banks so they can collect money up to get his son back.At the end of O2 journey he kills his enemies and escape from the police. Then he goes to Mexico to meet up with his son and Coca and that's has his journey ends.

Freedom Writers is also a quest story. In the movie the journey is
to get away from violence's and to success in life. But it seems impossible, the
person that goes on the journey is the students learning how to deal with their
problems and how to fix them. The teacher is also in a journey to get these
students to do better in school and graduate. The valuable object in this
journey is to get where you want in life, to success without having to do it
with violence's.

Stereotypes Of People And Nationalities

When it comes to stereotypes of people and nationalities I think it's wrong. Stereotyping is just like being prejudice. Why do I say this? Because when you do them both you're judging that person and that person's nationality to be the same. Which isn't fair to everyone elsa and that person because everyone isn't the same. We all make mistakes and it's not fair just for one person of nationality to represents the whole race.So I think you shouldn't stereotype anyone, I believe you should get to know that person because everyone is different from one another and have their own unique style.

Homosexuality

When it comes to homosexuality I believe it's up to that person. If that's their perference I guess you just have to accept it or leave it alone.I Don't Have A problem with homosexuality.I think people should be able to go with whoever they want, even if that person is the same sex as them.People look at it as ill that's nasty, their so discussing. But I see it as that's them and if that's who they want to go with or fall in love with that's their choice. You can't change people from their decision...Only they can.
